About Fast Track
What is Fast Track?
Fast Track is the talent initiative from MediaGuardian Edinburgh International Television Festival (MGEITF).
It is a unique event that gives 40 people the chance to network with and gain access to senior industry executives, over two days of intimate and insightful masterclasses in Edinburgh.
What are the benefits?
* Exclusive access to and insight from, the decision makers and most senior people in TV
* FREE delegate pass for MGEITF
* FREE accommodation in Edinburgh
* A chance to pitch an idea and win a commission from it
* Heavily subsidised training weekends after attending Fast Track - training in the past has included Directing, Pitching, Editing and Career/Networking Skills.
Should I apply?
If you want to fast forward your career, Fast Track is for you. To apply, all you need is to have 2-4 years' experience working in the TV industry. We are looking for people across television - in any area - with ideas, passion and drive.
Should I nominate?
If the scheme isn’t right for you, but you know someone who would be the ideal applicant, then please let us know. If you nominate them we’ll get in touch with them with details of how to apply
Past Fast Track speakers include Robert Thirkell, Sanjeev Bhaskar, Dawn Airey and Daisy Goodwin. All Fast Trackers gain the chance to pitch for the chance to win a commission, with previous delegates making programmes for Channel 4 and ITV2. There are also heavily subsidised post event training courses that enable delegates to broaden their skills or explore different areas of the industry .
And it really does work – our alumni, which includes Paramount’s Matt Tombs, Tiger Aspect’s Managing Director Andrew Zein, Katy Thorogood from North One, and Life on Mars producer Cameron Roach, are testament to the scheme’s success in helping delegates to fast track their careers .
Joe Godwin, Chair of Fast Track and Head of Entertainment at BBC Children’s says: “When I meet past delegates, they always say that the supportive network of industry peers that they build through the scheme is particularly valuable – and more often than not they claim that it is through the scheme that they have built the contacts and/ or confidence to get their next job.”
Fast Track not only accepts personal applications from anyone with two to four years experience in the industry, but also accepts nominations from others who wish to put forward talented individuals. This is a great opportunity for organisations to really shout about their brightest and best people, and to give them the training and development opportunities that can only result in a stronger and more motivated workforce
