The Inbetweeners receives The Network and Fast Track Programme Award
BBC One has scored a hattrick after being voted Terrestrial Channel of the Year for the third year running. BBC One Controller, Jay Hunt collected the award for Terrestrial Channel of the Year at the Media Guardian Edinburgh International Television Festival, hosted by comedian Michael McIntyre.
BBC One’s hit series The Apprentice, produced by talkbackTHAMES was voted the Terrestrial Programme of the Year. The series’ Editor Mark Saben collected the award.
The Network and Fast Track Choice Award for Best TV Show of 2009 went to Channel 4’s The Inbetweeners and was picked up by Iain Morris from Bwark Productions.
Channel 4 Head of E4, Angela Jain picked up the award for Non-Terrestrial Channel of the Year for E4.
The Wire, originally on FX channel, scooped the award for Non-Terrestrial Programme of the Year. It was picked up by star of the critically acclaimed drama, Dominic West.
This is the first time ever the winners of the prestigious Channel of the Year Awards have been decided by a live audience vote – over 2,000 online voters shortlisted the nominees. In previous years the winners were decided by the MGEITF Executive committee from a shortlist voted for by members of the public in a YouGov Poll.
