Our promise
The Edinburgh International Television Festival Ltd (Registered charity SC030821) is committed to protecting your personal information. From time to time we may invite you to supply personal information in order for us to provide you with services (such as access to member-only areas, e-newsletters and competitions). In order to deliver such services, we will need to process and store your personal information, of which will always be kept in accordance with The Data Protection Act 1998, United Kingdom.
There are three main principles underpinning our policy:
1. MGEITF does not capture or store personally-identifying information (such as your email address, name, title, or postal address) without your knowledge when you visit our site
2. You are always able to choose to provide such information to us
3. We respect your email privacy. We will only send you mailings from MGEITF if you have agreed to this. We do not pass on your details (including your email address) to other organisations or individuals without your prior consent
What data is being collected and how?
In the course of your involvement with MGEITF, we may request some basic information from you including your email address, your name, address, employment status and job title. These are mandatory requests for some services including registrations and applications. We may also ask some further, voluntary questions so we can gain a clearer understanding of our users.
Cookies and user tracking
A Cookie is a web based tool used to help us identify users and personalise user visits. MGEITF do not use cookies to store personal information. We collect information on user IP addresses to assist us in identifying unique user visits and typical paths through the site. IP addresses are not linked to personally identifiable information. We only use IP addresses to analyse trends, administer our website, track general user movements, and gather broad demographic information for statistical use.
How will my information be used?
Personal information collected by MGEITF is often limited to contact details and some basic information about your area of work and employment, but may include other information necessary to provide a particular service you have requested.
If you are applying for a talent scheme including The Network and Fast Track, you may need to answer certain additional questions such as your age and your current education and employment status, in order for us to evaluate whether you are eligible for that scheme. By providing your information to us, you explicitly give your consent for us to process your personal and sensitive data. However we will never disclose sensitive data to any third party.
How does MGEITF protect customer information?
We invest in high-quality protection technology and do our utmost to protect user privacy. UK Data Protection Legislation means we follow strict security procedures in the storage and disclosure of information which you have given us, to prevent unauthorised access.
Will MGEITF disclose personal information to third parties?
MGEITF will not provide your personal information to others unless you have given us your permission. With your permission we will only share the information with carefully chosen, reputable and trustworthy third parties. If in the instance a Festival delegate pass has been booked by a third party, they have the option to select communication preferences on your behalf, including third party mailings.
